White Paper: GDP of each Federal Reserve District
I wanted to find out how much GDP comes from each of the 12 Federal reserve districts. Not finding it, I calculated it, and since it isn’t available anywhere else and isn’t easy to do, I wrote a short Whitepaper about it so others can use and verify it. I found that GDP varies widely between Federal Reserve districts. The main results are below:
I then apply this to the Beige Book to find that one-third of the country is described to be in recession now (the original thing I wanted to find), where it was almost twice as much last November (59%). The latest Beige Book is not as bad as it was last December.
